Today's decorative tags are not just a stamped image
on a bookmark sized piece of card stock.
Get out the glue gun because we now add layer upon layer
of lace, fabric, photos, buttons, brads, sequins, beads
and anything else that you can think of.
Collect them, decorate with them, some can even
be useful as a book mark if they are not too thick.
This one is a 5 1/2 inch x 3 inch piece of textured card stock.
Punch a hole for the yarn hanger. This hanger is braided.
I use pages ripped from old books from the thrift store
or garage sales to create vintage style backgrounds.
Then start layering your papers, photos, lace etc.
Play around with the positioning and when you have
it the way that you want it you can start with the
bottom layers and glue them down.
To add a final touch I used some glitter glue in a few places.
Slip some yarns through the hole created at the top of the tag.
Secure them and then braid them. Tie the end into a knot.
Hang them on a knob or hook, attach them to the handle of a basket,
group them into a bowl or lay one on top of a stack of books.
They are great for tree ornaments when created in a holiday theme.
Grab your scraps, your bits and pieces of lace and fabric,
gather up your buttons, load your glue gun and ... HAVE FUN!
